Caroline Widdowson is the Head of Market Development at Markes International. She manages a team of subject matter experts focusing on applications related to environmental monitoring, defence & forensics, chemical emissions from products and materials and chemical ecology. Caroline represents the UK as an active member of standardisation committees in ISO, CEN, BSi, ASTM, responsible for drafting harmonised methods on Ambient Air, Indoor & In-Vehicle Air Quality, Materials and Product testing. She holds a PhD in organic chemistry and earned her MBA while working at Markes.

Rachael Szafnauer received an M.Sci in forensic science from the University of South Wales, UK, where her final-year project focused on fingerprinting emerging psychoactive substances using advanced techniques such as GCxGC–TOF MS, in collaboration with Markes International. She later took up the role of thermal desorption product specialist at Markes, providing technical and application support to the commercial team, before taking on her current role as Product Marketing Manager for the Centri product line and specialising in the development of applications using extraction & enrichment techniques for GC–MS.

Stefan Koschinski joined Markes International in 2012 directly after finishing his PhD in wine research. He is an experienced analytical chemist with a focus on thermal desorption, gas chromatography, comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography, chemometrics and mass spectrometry. Over the past ten years, Stefan has trained many customers in the proper use of analytical equipment. He is now looking forward to sharing his knowledge and expertise with even more analysts as one of our instructors for the Schauenburg Analytics Academy. Stefan is a German speaker and will provide trainings in his native language as well as in English.
